Maxine and James’s wedding in Abersoch was an incredible day filled with energy and laughter. As a North Wales wedding photographer, my approach was to document their day naturally, allowing moments to unfold without interruption, whilst making use of the amazing scenery of the Llyn Peninsula.

I started the day by heading into Abersoch village a couple of hours before the service to spend time with Maxine and her bridesmaids, who were getting ready at The Cornerhouse, a bright, modern b&b close to Abersoch Main Beach. The house, with its big, white rooms and large windows, lent itself to natural light photography and allowed me to just blend in and let the the bridal party remain relaxed without becoming too 'camera aware'.
The ceremony took place at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, a historic art gallery nestled on the Llyn Peninsula. I arrived around 45 minutes before the service was due to begin, ensuring that I had more than enough time to park, speak with the wedding co-ordinators and start capturing candid shots of the guests as they began to turn up in ones and twos.
The light streaming through the large window at the front of the ceremony room allowed for more great natural light shots and I worked discreetly, keeping to one position and remaining unobtrusive, meaning I was able to photograph THE natural moments as they happened, without disrupting the flow of the ceremony.
Afterwards, we headed to Llanbedrog Beach for portraits. The golden sand and dramatic coastal backdrop made for some stunning images, but rather than directing Maxine and James too much, I encouraged them to simply enjoy the moment together. The result was a series of relaxed, natural shots that truly reflected their connection and the beauty of an Abersoch wedding.

Their reception was held in a marquee on a farm at Cilan Head, overlooking the bay of Porth Ceiriad, a beach where Maxine & James had enjoyed many summer days. The atmosphere was really great, guests laughing, dancing, and celebrating in true style. As a photographer in Abersoch, I love capturing these high-energy moments, there's something about weddings in Abersoch that brings out the party spirit! Taking advantage of the large marquee & outdoor areas, I positioned myself on the periphery of the wedding, documenting candid moments and occasionally moving in and catching a close-up without ever influencing what was happening.
As the sun set over Abersoch, the fires were lit outside, the pizza van arrived and the brilliant tribute band 'Noasis' took the celebrations to another level. This Abersoch wedding had everything and it was a privilege to be there to document it. If you’re looking for a North Wales wedding photographer who captures weddings in a natural, unobtrusive way, I’d love to hear from you.
