Di & Alistair’s wedding took place at St Cian Church in Llangian, followed by a reception at Abersoch Golf Club — a North Wales wedding rooted in community, familiarity, and a relaxed, documentary feel.
St Cian Church Wedding, Llangian
St Cian Church sits at the heart of Llangian, and this felt like a wedding that belonged there. The ceremony brought together friends, family, and members of the local community — many of whom clearly knew each other well. There was a calm, unforced atmosphere throughout, with none of the sense of performance that can sometimes creep into wedding days.
As a North Wales wedding photographer, this kind of environment naturally suits the way I work. Rather than directing or staging moments, I focus on observing what’s already there — photographing people as they interact, connect, and support one another in their own way.

Documentary Wedding Photography in North Wales
My approach to weddings is informal and documentary, and Di & Alistair’s day reflected that perfectly. Nothing needed orchestrating. The strength of the day came from the people involved and the shared history between them.
This style of wedding photography is about honesty — recording the day as it actually felt to be there, rather than trying to create moments that didn’t happen. North Wales weddings, especially those grounded in local communities, often lend themselves beautifully to this approach.
Abersoch Wedding Reception at Abersoch Golf Club
After the ceremony, everyone travelled to Abersoch Golf Club for the wedding reception. Abersoch weddings often have a relaxed, social feel, and this reception was no exception. The emphasis was on people enjoying time together rather than following a tightly controlled schedule.
From a documentary point of view, this kind of setting allows space for natural moments to unfold — conversations, reactions, and small interactions that reflect the reality of the day rather than a constructed version of it.
North Wales Weddings: People, Place, and Connection
For me, the best North Wales weddings are shaped as much by place as they are by people. Di & Alistair’s wedding reflected both — tied to Llangian, celebrated in Abersoch, and surrounded by a local community that clearly meant a great deal to them.
It was a wedding that didn’t need embellishment, and one that worked exactly as it was — photographed quietly, honestly, and without interruption.
